I escaped from my desk yesterday
for lunch at Cafe Demel,
followed by coffee at The Pharmacy*.
I have had in my life.
One gigantic Schnitzel,
two tiny, tiny salads
and a dressed up lemon
on the side.
One of the many lovely things about Demel
is that you get to take a sneek peak
into their bakery,
where the magic happens. And you can discover
little treasures
like these blossoming cupcakes.
Luckily, there was a glass wall between me and them,
I'm not sure I would have been able to resist. Bakery art:
Icing!
And what is this?
Chocolate cakes
just sitting around,
waiting to be eaten?
Or to be wrapped up in those pretty boxes up there?
Quick, let's go now.
Some coffee,
to get my mind off all the cake.
The last sip of coffee is gone,
do I really need to return home to my desk?

I was in Vienna over the summer and had the most amazing Schnitzel and the most amazing time. It's lovely there!
May Mondays like this happen often in your life!
Love, M.
what fun!
Better than the New York Demel for sure! Still I'm glad we have one to go to...
What a lovely lunch! And the food sounds delicious! :)
That looks to be a pretty good way to spend a Monday! Your pictures capture the atmosphere beautifully (yes, I have been in there, so I know :-)
I trust the thesis is coming along well.
Lauren K: That's great! I'm so glad you had a good time!
Merisi: Thanks for going with me :) Hope you'll be a part of many more Mondays like this one.
Paris Breakfasts: It was fun! It doesn't really matter which Demel is better, I am just glad that they've reached the other side of the ocean.
Pearls and Peonies: It really was a lovely Monday. I wouldn't mind having some more of that soup right now...
Maalie: Thank you! And, well, the thesis has been a bit neglected because I've got exams next week. But don't worry, it's shouting at me all the time to pay more attention to it.
