Banana Bread Study Break

The weather has been cold, wet and grey all week;
my roommate and I have been stuck inside studying/writing/working
for what seems like an eternity.
We desperately needed something warm, sweet and homemade.
So I made some banana bread for our coffee break,
using a recipe I found on this lovely blog.

Hey, is that type of cake cdalled a Gugelhupf? It looks yummy!

Maalie: Well...the recipe called for banana bread, which means it is supposed to be baked in a loaf pan. Unfortunately, I don't have one of those, so I used the next best thing. It's not quite the shape of a Guglhupf, it's a bit bigger and the top is flatter.

Mmm banana bread. I've gotten into the habit of saving bananas until they get mushy and brown to use for banana bread, banana pancakes, and banana crumb cupcakes. I've actually even baked the bread in a round stovetop pan when a loaf pan wasn't available--works just as well, just need to watch the baking times. Delicious!

Lanna: I've become a HUGE fan of all things baked with banana. Who would have thought you could make something so delicious out of something as gross-looking as a mushy, brown banana? :-)
