We're being reimbursed for the terribly rainy and cold July with a wonderfully sunny and enjoyable fall. The sun is golden, the trees are luminous and it is just all together perfect. Fall was always one of my favorite seasons on the US East Coast, but here in Austria it is mostly rainy and grey. Not this year!

We are having a gorgeous autumn in England too! As you say, it is as if we are being recompensed for a cold wet summer!
